Eunkyung Han, Ceramic Artist
Clay is a responsive medium that can be precisely shaped with wet hands and the motion of the wheel. It allows me to create any form I envision, offering both comfort and excitement in the process of making.
My ceramic practice is a visceral dialogue between the time-honored traditions of Korean pottery and the captivating unpredictability of modern atmospheric firing. Inspired by the iconic Joseon-dynasty Moon Jar (Dalhangari)—a symbol of abundance, serenity, and the humble beauty of empty space—I strive to evoke feelings of calm and abundance in contemporary life.
My goal is to share the joy of creation with others and convey the emotions I experience through my work. I focus on exploring the beauty of lines—particularly the elegance of curves—to express harmony, balance, and comfort. The pursuit of creating graceful and meaningful forms remains a constant commitment in my artistic journey, and I take great satisfaction in sharing this vision with others.
